Remembering one of my favorites.

I'm one of those people who cannot identify any of the young actors today.....they all have odd names, and they all look alike!

I much prefer the old movies, and old tv shows.....and all the actors that had class, and could actually act!

My hubby just told me that Peter Falk passed away.

He was truly one of my favorite actors.  I loved everything he was in.  He had such an amazing talent!

I have dozens of his Columbo tv series on dvd, and that's what I pop in when I'm quilting.....I've watched them all 100's and 100's of times, I know every line......so I can just hear it while I'm sewing away, and look up every now and then, when I know his sneaky little 'I'm playing the dumb cop' gag is about to come on.  I love that!  I still giggle when he does it.....and I've seen it so many times!

I love that he had so much class.....he had a hit series, and he was such a friend to so many of his fellow actors, ones that were aging, or not acting much....he would give them guest parts on his show.....some of them over and over again!  (Angela Lansbury would do the same thing on her Murder, She Wrote series.....I love her, too!  Again.....total class!)

I always get so much pleasure watching his movies and shows......he was one of a kind!

I read that he had dementia and Alzheimer's toward the end.  He was 83.

  1. It's sad. I read where he overcame so much (losing his eye to cancer at 3 years old, being told he could never be an actor with only one eye). Look at that face, the lines, the expression, the character. You're right, they don't make them like that anymore! I didn't know they had the Columbo series on DVD. I'll have to look for that...loved that show! Sure do wish a cure could be found for dementia and Alzheimer's.

  2. The young ones also behave quite poorly which is very tiring. RIP Mr. Falk!

  3. I loved watching Columbo. He also played a part in a movie I love called Wings of Desire. He'll always be remembered.

  4. I loved Columbo too. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I didn't know he had passed. Will have to see if Netflix has the Columbo series.

  6. We just watched a movie with he and Paul Reiser. He was the dad and they took a road trip. Paul's character was trying to connect with his father before it was too late. He was great in this. They don't make 'em like that anymore do they?

  7. I loved Peter Falk and Columbo too. Your comments on class reminded me of a few years ago when I was working with a group of younger single people. To them for the most part 'class' meant nice cloths, good grooming and money. They were discussing it and asked me what I thought class was. I gave an answer based more on character, and they sort of disgustedly remarked that they knew I'd say something like that, lol. They were great kids, I wonder if over the years they've changed their minds about class.
