Getting back to normal.....

Here it is, the 6th of April, and I'm just now feeling like I'm home.  We got back from NY on the 29th, but I guess we're getting older, and my recuperation time from vacation takes a bit longer these days!  Sheesh!

I finally got back in the sewing room, and figured I needed to prepare something red and white!  I'm just still in that mode, and I can't think of anything else these days!  So I got to planning, and cutting, and this was going to be my next leader/ender project.....but I just couldn't wait to see a block finished from it!  HA!

This works up to be a 6" block, and I have enough of this particular white to make a good sized lap quilt.  I chose a fairly thick white cotton, to help eliminate the shadowing from the red.  I've used muslin whites before (in my baby quilts) and the amount of time I spend trimming seam allowances to keep the darks from peeking through is just about enough to make you crazy.....and on this quilt it would have!

This pattern was one of my favorites at the red and white exhibit.
LOVE IT!

The snow is finally melting away, and we are doing a little dance!

Have a great day!

  1. Even just the one little block is stunning! So crisp! Do you know the brand of the white fabric? When I started my little red and white piece I could only find a very thin white in my stash so I switched to a print (white with a little red) for the same reason. Does this block pattern have a name?

  5. Another of my favorites from the show - so simple and effective. I love a quilt that makes a chain. This will be terrific!

thanks for sharing all your pictures, it took me a good week to recoup after going in to see the show twice. I admit though I am still thinking about it!
